best monitor

a buddy of mine told me the acer 24" LCD is the way to go for new monitors if you're looking for longevity since you'll eventually want 1900 x 1200 as really powerful video cards start becoming the norm. though i guess if you're looking for a solid 1680 x 1050 monitor, samsung monitors are solid

I Love Samsung.. they have some Awsome LCD's.. im still rocking my old SyncMaster 710T.. was the best thing on the market for 17" when i got it.. and its still pretty damn good and running strong.


All my friends who speak well of their monitors own Samsungs. some older versions some the much newer.. the rest have some stupid complaint about their OTHER Brands.

I've got the Dell 24" and aside from a few problems with the component connection it works great. Once you go 24" widescreen you won't go back.

While it's not on the same level as apple screens, it's as close as you can get. Definitely good quality

Dell's LCDs use Samsung hardware; either company will be hard to beat. I love my 24" Dell widescreen. If you're torn between the two and the price is comparable, think about warranty and extra features. Chances are, a dell 22" and a samsung 22" are the exact same LCD in a different package (assuming you are comparing the current models).

For the best value, keep an eye on Dell's website. They mark down their displays on sale pretty regularly. Also keep an eye out for Dell coupons on ebay, sometimes you can get coupons along the lines of "$100 off a purchase of $600 or more" for $20 or whatever that will stack with dell's current sale price. You can get $3-400 off the full retail price if you are patient.

you can check fatwallet.com or slickdeals.net forums and search for "monitor" or something of the sort. Every so often there will be good deals posted by money-saving geeks on these things.

Dell had a lot of good deals on them. unfortunately, dell has released a lot of cheaper monitors that no longer "swivel" and rotate the way its old ones used to. You can still find those that are very flexible, but the ones I see on sale nowadays are primarily "static" ones that only pivot up and down.

Back when i bought my 20" widescreen from Dell for $380 (a year+ ago), mine can slide up and down, swivel 90 degrees (to read long documents), and from side to side (watching a movie from a different angle).

i still dont understand what the dela is with this monitor, its basicly a glass screen in front of a normal lcd ey? t still has edges and it comes with mad retarded speakers on the side.

I don't think its glass I believe its like a Hybrid Acrylic, Polymer blend which has a Almost Glass Surface, Whats important to note is that that monitor is a multi point touch interface meaning you'll be able to draw on the screen or use your media center with your finger, or make photoshop adjustments, and the screen will not scratch like normal LCD and Crt Touch screens. Its also going to use Display Port which is like HDMI V2 better than our current HDMI technology and uses the same connector so it remains backwards compatible with lots of the old HDMI technology, SO High Def monitor that you can Chain together cable side versus video card side that looks bomb as hell with a built in Grid Array Microphone and Ultra Thin SO sexy
